This tutorial helps new Wix users choose a template style and start building a website with the Wix editor.
Start from your website goal
Before picking a template, decide what the website needs to do: show a portfolio, introduce services, sell products, take bookings, publish articles, or support a local business. The clearer the goal, the easier it is to choose a template that fits.
Choose an industry category
After logging in, open My Sites and create a new site. Wix will ask for a website type or industry. Pick the closest option first; you can still adjust the design and structure later.
Evaluate the template
Look at navigation, homepage layout, content blocks, mobile display, and whether the template already includes the sections you need. A beautiful template is useful only if it supports the real information structure of your business.
Keep it editable
Choose a template that your team can maintain. Avoid designs that look impressive but are difficult to update, especially when you plan to publish content or change services frequently.
